Na Mele Nei Concerts
Native Books Na Mea Hawaii / If you need to fill your laid back Sundays with some good music, head to Ward Warehouse for Na Mele Nei Concerts. Sponsored by Native Books Na Mea Hawaii, Na Mele Nei takes place 1pm–3pm, every first Sunday, on the stage at the ‘Ewa end of the shopping center. For the past seven years, Na Mele Nei has showcased local music of all genres. Concert producer Ellen Elena Martinez says, “Our stage is for all kinds of music…we want to support Island music.” On March 7, Na Mele Nei will showcase the Koolau Breeze, which makes its debut at the Ward Warehouse Amphitheater. Another highlight of this year’s concert series is the Kamehameha School Children’s Chorus, which will perform songs from its new CD on April 18. Free workshops that teach people how to play the ‘ukulele, dance hula and do various arts and crafts.
